Five Devices I Would Use on a Smartphone

Five Devices I Would Use on a Smartphone

By Isaac Mckinney

There are a number of devices I would like to see put on future smart phones. Right now I think that Smartphone development is getting stale. Cell phone manufactures need to make more hardware that everybody can use in their daily lives. Here are five things I would like to see in the near future:
1. 2 or 3x optical zoom cameras
I saw something really small crawling on the glass of my saltwater aquarium and wanted to take a picture and enlarge it. I grabbed my cell phone and snapped the picture. Nothing showed up. I used digital zoom to see if I can pick up something but still couldn't see it through my phone. If my eyes could see it then I should be able to see it on my phone.
2. Infra red sensor
You could use your phone to see in areas of very low lighting. For example: under the hood of your car at night or when the power goes out and you need to find you flashlight or candles.
3. Digital TV tuner
Phones are coming with 4" screens now so why not put a digital tuner in it. This is a win/win situation for TV networks and users. If you're traveling you can watch TV on your phone without having to subscribe to movie rental sites for downloads.
4. Hart rate detector
A jogger can use this tool when they are out and about. Maybe you can also check your blood pressure with just using the pulse in your thumb. These options would be of great use but I doubt the medical industry would let this out without paying outrageous prices.
5. MRI
Ok this would never happen but wouldn't it be awesome. If you have a pet you can get a cross section image of its tissue snap a picture and share with friends.

Tiered Data Plans - Worst Idea in the World of Wireless

Tiered Data Plans - Worst Idea in the World of Wireless

By Isaac Mckinney

Tiered data plans could be the worst event to happen to mobile internet in the modern world. It is a step backwards in the development of communications technology, a way of holding back progress for the sake of saving money rather than making money. The growth of wireless communication may be stumped if this surge is the way of the future.
By now most people know that At&t has established a tiered data option in hopes to relieve some of the stress that they are experience with their mobile service to date. It would have just been smarter to upgrade first before they come out with high capacity data devices. The current options that At&t provides are as follow: $10 for 200MB with a $10 charge for each additional 200MB and a $25 for 2GB with $15 charge for each additional 2GB every time you go over.
Verizon is scheduled to copy At&t with their data options when they roll out their new 4G LTE data networks sometime next year; their prices will most likely be the same. As of yet there is no word of sprint or T-mobile making the same move and I really hope they don't.
The 2GB option may not be that big of a problem but the 200MB plan is a huge risk to your financed if you don't keep a close eye on your data usages. Just a few days ago I tethered my data to my PC when my cable internet was disconnected for some reason. When I hooked up my phone I then streamed two videos from a Social media web site totaling to about 15 minutes of video. I then looked at my data usage stats and saw I already used 50MB of date; that is one quarter of the total allowance of 200MB plan in just 15 minutes of video. I don't have a tiered data plan with my service provider but if I had, then I would be extremely disappointed.
There wouldn't be any point in purchasing a Smartphone of any kind with limited data options. Smartphone's are designed for user to have access to whatever information they need or be able to send photos and videos on the go. You service won't be cut off and you still have the freedom to use your internet as indiscriminately as you like but you may grudgingly pay your bills as you go on with your life.
It's unknown how this would affect the world of prepaid subscribers. Prepaid companies offer data plans substantially lower than their contract competitors. Straight talk, owned by Track phone and sponsored by Wal-Mart uses Verizon's network while offering unlimited everything plans as low as $45/mo. As of yet there are no prepaid phones that are able to use their new 4G system. At&t also has a prepaid unlimited plan at $50/mo. Both carriers have prepaid smart phones costing $100 or more.

How to Increase Cell Phone Battery Performance

How to Increase Cell Phone Battery Performance

By Isaac Mckinney

With current cell phone technology your cell phone battery life can be drained far sooner than what the manufacture may suggest. Large touch screens, fast processor and numerous subsystems running in the background together team up to drain down your battery. You can either deal with recharging the battery every chance you get or take some steps to reduce the battery consumption in your phone.
Battery Management
Go into your cell phones settings and find the Battery manager option. This option gives you the ability to set your phones settings to adjust for either high performance or energy saving mode. The options and wording may vary with different manufactures but the results are similar. The Battery Manager is a function that can shut down devices and apps that are not currently in use so that energy consumption is reduced.
Manual Battery Management
There are several manual steps a user can take to save battery life on a cell phone. Manual battery management is permanent in a way that it doesn't rely on whether or not if your phone is active or on standby. Once the options are changed manually they can only be returned to previously settings manually. Here are a few steps to manually control battery management.
Turn down screen brightness
Go into your settings and turn down the brightness of your LCD screen to a level that's comfortable to you. The lower the level then the more energy you save.
Screen Time Out
Change your screen time out setting to its lowest amount of time. This way your screen will shut off as soon as you stop using your phone.
Turn off Wi-Fi
Most of the time you're not using your Wi-Fi feature so why leave it running? Turning off your Wi-Fi will save you energy that's normally just being wasted. You can always turn it back on if you need it.
Turn off Bluetooth
If you're not using a Bluetooth head set then this is another waist of energy. These types of wireless features are constantly running in the background even though you may not be aware of them being on.

How to Get a Cell Phone Contract With Bad Credit

How to Get a Cell Phone Contract With Bad Credit

By Isaac Mckinney

As a former employee of a cell phone carrier I found that many consumers are skeptical of purchasing a cell phone due to their undesirable credit history. They often believe that prepaid is their only option but they would prefer a contract provider. Many people don't realized that even with subprime credit they may still be eligible for a mobile phone contract. 80% of the customers with the misconception that they can't get a contract where often surprised when they received approval for a cell phone plan. If you have bad credit and prefer better quality cell phones over prepaid then here are a few steps you can take to get a contract phone
Pay a down payment
Many customers with bad credit may be asked to pay a down on their contract. The price can range from $50 to $400 depending on the carrier. You get the money back with interest after waiting two years. Go through the application process to find out what you qualify for. If your down payment requirement is at the low end then go for it but if it's at the high end then move on.
Apply with various carriers
If you're preferred cell phone carrier is charging you a very high down payment then apply at another company. Some carriers pick up customers that their competitors may reject. Its amazing how one carrier may classify you as a high risk but another may consider you to be a prime client.
Go with credit lenient companies
Not all cell phone companies use the same process for credit checks. Each company have different standards and requirements than there competitors. It's been my experience that Sprint and T-mobile usually provide great deals for customers with bad credit.
Sprint's credit requirements are the lowest of the major US carriers. Many customers who were rejected by other carriers almost always get a contract with sprint. Usually they ask for a $50 down payment but may be up to $150. Sprint has some of the lowest priced service plans in the nation that helps to keep monthly bills to a minimum.
T-mobile is also a good choice for customers with low credit scores. In addition to having low credit requirements, T-mobile takes it a step further by vanquishing down payment and providing account options form customers for subprime customers. The first of two options is called the even more plan. In this plan the customer still has the ability to purchase phones at a discount price but they have to pay the first month's bill up front. Activation fees are automatically waved, saving you a large sum of money if you purchased more than one phone. The second option is the even more plus plan. This option is a no contract plan. You have to pay full price for the phones but the monthly fees are cheaper than the even more plan. After a year of timely payments on the even more plus plan T-mobile will review your account to determine if you're eligible to upgrade to a contract plan.

Free Cell Phones - Online Wireless Dealer Stores

Free Cell Phones - Online Wireless Dealer Stores

By Isaac Mckinney

Getting a free cell phone is more realistic than any person may think it is. Normally when a person hears that something is free they may be filled with doubt. Free items often come with some kind of gimmick or catch and sometimes break the law. You won't find prices that low in any brick & motor dealer store unless the phone is an old or low end model. There are actual dealer stores that have at least 90% of their cell phone inventory priced at $0.00, weather if it's a regular phone device or a Smartphone data device. The only place you can get a large selection free cell phones with the purchase of a new contract is on the internet. There is no surveying involved and you don't have to purchase anything you don't really want to buy in order to get your free cell phone.
Typically, cell phones are considered to be priced between $300 and $5oo but with a contract you will normally pay $50 to $200 for a cell phone. This works because the commission the dealer store gets for the contract sale is more than enough to make up for the phone price discount. Dealer stores on the internet have it even better. Everyone knows by now that internet stores provide much lower cost overhead than a brick & mortar store, allowing the company to offer lower prices on their products. Internet dealer stores such as TMI-warless, Wirefly and LetsTalk offer much of their inventory for free with the purchase of a new two year contract form all of the United States to cell phone carriers.
Here is a typical breakdown of the purchasing process on one of these web sites:
· Log on to one of these sites, whether if it's TMI-wireless, Wirefly or LetsTalk

· Pick your favorite carrier

· Look for the phone you would like to purchase

· The condition for a free cell phone is contingent upon signing up for a new two year contract or renewing your contract with an upgrade only

· You can purchase a phone without a contract at full cost of the product

· There are no rebates involved

· Next the web site will offer you all the same contract plan options and fees that normally come with the carrier you selected

· For the most part ground shipping is free

· They do offer faster shipping methods with a charge

· In the next step you will have to fill out the required application for service

· You will need to enter your credit card information for identification purposes

· As long as you don't violate any of the terms of service or agreements your card will not be charged
At the end of your transaction you will be able to review all entered information before finalizing you purchase. The company will let you know if you have been approved within 48 and ship your product with the option you selected. Make sure you read all terms of use prior to making a purchase.
